Brandon Graham Already Retired Once — So Why Can't Philadelphia Let Go?

Some players pass through Philadelphia. Brandon Graham became part of it.

Sixteen years with the Philadelphia Eagles. Think about that number for a second. Most NFL careers last barely three seasons. BG gave one city, one fanbase, one organization sixteen — through the boos of his early years, through the strip-sack that won Super Bowl LII, through a torn Achilles that should have ended it, all the way to a retirement announcement... and then a return.

That's what makes this conversation different from any other interview you'll hear with him. Brandon Graham already retired once. He said his goodbyes. Philadelphia gave him his flowers. And then the itch came back — and so did he. Now the question hanging over everything: is the Eagles legend really done this time, or is there one more run left?

On this episode of The Keep Going Podcast, we didn't get the press-conference version of Brandon Graham. We got the real one.

How this conversation happened

My co-host Kenny REDS runs Red's Camp Performance, and BG has put in work there. That relationship is the reason this episode exists. When a 16-year veteran sits down with people he actually trains with and trusts, the guard comes down. You can hear the difference in the first five minutes.

I know a piece of what BG carries, from my own path. I played in the NFL and CFL, won two Grey Cups with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and I know what it feels like when the game that built you starts asking whether you're done. Nobody teaches you how to retire. Nobody prepares you for the morning after the last game. That's the space this conversation lives in.

What we get into

The boos. Philly fans are famous for it, and BG heard plenty early in his career when the city thought he was a draft bust. We talk about what it takes to keep showing up in a city that hasn't decided it loves you yet — and how that same city ended up giving him one of the longest tenures in franchise history.

The strip-sack. You can't tell Brandon Graham's story without Super Bowl LII. One play, decades in the making. But what people don't talk about is everything that play cost, and everything it changed.

Retiring — and unretiring. This is the heart of the episode. What actually goes through a player's mind when he announces he's done? What pulls him back? And how do you know when walking away is real? BG doesn't dodge any of it.

What comes next. Whether or not he plays another snap, BG is already building his next chapter. For every athlete, entrepreneur, or anybody in a season of transition, this part of the conversation is the blueprint.

Why this matters beyond football

The Keep Going Podcast has never really been about sports. It's about what people do when the thing that defined them changes. Brandon Graham spent sixteen years being "Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham." Who is he when that ends? That question isn't a football question. That's a life question — the same one facing anybody leaving a career, a city, a chapter.

That's the Process of Life. You don't skip the hard seasons. You go through them, and you keep going.
